Here's a recap (really a comedic commentary) on March's Pinterest [in the kitchen] Attempts: KALE CHIPS
We made Kale Chips over spring break (chop the leaves off the stem, olive oil 'em, put 'em on a baking sheet all spread out, bake 'em in the oven for 10-15 mins., then add salt to taste) and they were the kind of green I regret missing out on until now. I'm not sure Kale and I had ever crossed paths in the past, but I've seen Kale Chips pop up on Pinterest a few times this month, so I thought I'd try them out. I'm the product of a microwave generation, so waiting for something in the oven FEELS LIKE FOREVER, but these are perfect for a snack on a Saturday afternoon.
I was eating the Kale furiously and ferociously and accidentally had a Kale Fail.... on my foot.
Our friends Kelsey and Josh came over the other night and I popped these in the oven real quick before they showed up. I've heard from people who actually bake that you really shouldn't try recipes you've never attempted on dinner guests, but I've been a DEFINITE rule keeper my whole life, so I decided to rush into rebellion on this one. This recipe's a healthy-ish one. And it certainly tasted like a healthy-ish one. It's easy: two bananas, cup o' oats, and chocolate chips in the oven for 12 minutes at 350 degrees. I could definitely see myself making more of these and eating them for breakfast alllll the time. But with this particular recipe I would recommend using three bananas, not two. maybe adding in a little bit of vanilla or Greek Yogurt to the mix if you want them sweeter, moister and yummier.
CHOCOLATE CHIP OATMEAL COOKIES:
To balance out what I'd consider to be healthy snacks, I made chocolate chip oatmeal cookies for my sister-in-law's babyshower, but I forgot to take them to the Baby Shower, so then I tried to pawn them off on my college students at a movie night we hosted, but my college students FAILED ME and DIDN'T EAT ALL OF THEM, so then I just picked at that plate of cookies on my coffee table for dayzzzz until they were all gone.
To be honest, I didn't get the recipe off of pinterest. I just looked one up on the internet. Google: an interactive system that produces a zillion chocolate chip cookie recipes on a daily basis. Check it out sometime.
And to be HONESTER, I can't remember what recipe I used, but I took a pretty picture and decided to share it with you.
I hope you-wall are having a darn toot'n great week. We've had beautiful clouds and grey skies in this here part o' Texas and all the baptists and grandma's are uh'pray'n for some rain in this here dry land. I'm watching Forever After right now while I take a gander at cleaning up my office. Until next time!
